In the 1960s, a group of older Quakers in Nottingham decided to pool their resources and buy the property that is now Westdale Care Home. As time went by they started to employ carers to look after them and in due course Westdale became a residential home. Westdale is now a home to residents of all faiths and none, but aims to retain the original Quaker ethos. Local Quakers have always been represented on the home’s Management Committee with the intention of maintaining and upholding Quaker values in the way that the home operates.
A Meeting for Worship is held on the second Sunday of each month from 10.45 – 11.30 a.m.
This is followed by tea and chat with the residents that attend, and with each other. Everyone is welcome to join us. There is limited parking at the site.
The Management Committee would welcome involvement from people with an interest in the care of older people, or who could offer voluntary help with social and other activities. Please contact the Clerks if you would like to know more about this.
